Social Collaboration Maturity Benchmark 2021

In 2021, OrangeTrail and Knowman launched the Social Collaboration Maturity Scan to assess organisations’ maturity when it comes to their use of enterprise social platforms.
39 organisations from 16 countries have performed the scan. Together they represented more than 1.5 million employees.

The overall results were then shared and analysed in the 1st edition of the global Social Collaboration Maturity Benchmark Report, published in November 2021.

In the report you will find:

  • a summary of the Scan results

  • an analysis of those results and what they mean for organisations

  • general recommendations for organisations to progress to higher stages of maturity.

FAQ
  • Who authored this survey and the model behind it?
The Social Collaboration Maturity Model (SCMM) was created by OrangeTrail based on many years of experience, working with organisations to increase the value they extract from using enterprise social platforms. The Scan was created in partnership by OrangeTrail and Knowman, in what became an amazing exercise of systematising and making explicit the thinking behind the Model. OrangeTrail is... (short paragraph consistent with the one already on the website) Knowman is a consulting company specialised in designing and implementing strategies, plans and activities to improve collaboration, knowledge sharing and retention, and organisational learning.
  • How is this survey different from so many others out there?
Three main reasons: The survey was created from a model which, in turn, results from years of experience. So, the model led to the survey. The survey accepts that reality is rarely black or white. As such, it allows for many shades of gray ;) Participants receive a personalised report, a XX pages document detailing the social collaboration maturity stage of their organisation for each of the 7 areas. The report also includes suggestions on how the organisations can progress from where they are to extract even more value from their enterprise social platforms.
  • Why should my organisation participate in this survey?
You will get a personalised report, a XX pages document: detailing the social collaboration maturity stage of your organisation for each of the 7 areas; offering suggestions on how it can evolve from there in order to extract even more value from your existing enterprise social platforms. You will be able to check how your organisation fares against the benchmark. You can then use it to energise your colleagues: either by showing the potential for improvement or by showing how you are so much ahead of the curve.
  • Can my organisation participate?
The Model, and therefore the survey, was developed considering medium and large organisations, either public or private. So, if your organisation fits that description, the answer is “yes”.
  • When will I receive the report?

  • Who, in my organisation, should fill in the survey? "
It should be filled in by someone with internal ownership of your organisation’s social platform or by someone with a global view and knowledge of the organisation. Having said that, it is possible to answer the survey based on a specific unit / department or even on a region (e.g. Canada, or EMEA). One suggestion: gathering a group of colleagues and filling in the survey together will certainly make for a very interesting discussion and it will likely reveal good practices from parts of the business. If you take this approach, it is better to allocate 2 hours.
  • How long does it take to fill in the survey?
We expect it will take one person approximately 15 minutes to fill in the survey. If you choose to use the opportunity to fill it in with a group of colleagues (maybe your platform’s steering group or champions), do account for at least 2 hours.
  • Is the survey available in other languages?
No. If language is an issue, please do get in touch and we will do our best to help.
  • Who has access to the information I provide?
    Enter your answer here
  • I have other questions or concerns. What can I do?
    Please get in touch.
